What does the F-GASdirective say?
With regard to new equipment, from 1 January 2022, refrigerated storage cabinets, low-level storage units, display and dispensing cabinets and food dispensing appliances with a built-in refrigeration unit and a hermetically sealed refrigeration circuit (soldered, welded or mechanically crimped connections, even where a Schrader-type service valve is fitted), whose refrigerants have a GWP of >150, are prohibited from being marketed.
NB: Equipment such as blast chilling and freezing cells, which are not intended for conservation, are not concerned.
To comply with the F-GAS directive, which prohibits the marketing of new equipment using refrigerants with a GWP of more than 150 from 1 January 2022, our Design Office opted for R455A fluid (A2L) after a test phase.
As a result, from 1 January 2022 – with the exception of blast cooling units, which are not affected by the F-GAS directive – this R455A refrigerant will be used for all ODIC units with a housed refrigeration unit, which were previously fitted with R452A or R134A units.
Of course, all the references that have long been available with R290 and CO² will be retained.
For pre-equipped equipment (remote units): the current R134A and R452A references will still be available.
